The history of the school

Acerca de

For nearly a century, dance has been the lifeblood of this venue in Paris's 15th arrondissement. Founded in 1937, the Danse Cadix school is one of those rare places where several generations have come together to learn, practice, and share dance.

Over the decades, the studio has seen many disciplines pass through: Classical Dance, ballroom dancing, gymnastics, waltz, and more recently 4-Step Rock, which joined the schedule in 2017. This diversity reflects the spirit of the place: a space open to all forms of dance and to all those who wish to discover the pleasure of movement.

The story of Danse Cadix is also the story of a neighborhood. At one time, orchestras played live in the hall, the doors wide open to the street, while the dancers continued dancing right out onto the sidewalk. A festive and welcoming atmosphere that perfectly illustrates the spirit of conviviality that has always characterized the school. Even today, this tradition of sharing continues. Dance classes are still held there every week, and the school actively participates in the cultural life of its students by organizing shows, workshops, and numerous opportunities to connect through dance.

A school rooted in its neighborhood

Located in the southern part of Paris's 15th arrondissement, near the Porte de Versailles and the Parc des Expositions, the Danse Cadix school is deeply integrated into the life of the neighborhood. Each week, we welcome students not only from the 15th arrondissement, but also from neighboring districts and nearby towns such as Issy-les-Moulineaux, Vanves, and Malakoff. Many of them discovered the school through word of mouth, proof that its reputation has grown over time.

This local dimension is essential for us. Danse Cadix is first and foremost a neighborhood dance school, on a human scale, where everyone can learn in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Some families have been attending the school for several years, and it's not uncommon to see several generations following one another in the same studio.

A school on a human scale

At Danse Cadix, we have always aimed to maintain a simple and accessible structure. Groups are intentionally kept small, so that each student can receive individual attention and progress at their own pace.

Classes are spread throughout the week to accommodate different lifestyles:

  • after-school classes for children

  • evening classes for teenagers and adults

  • daytime wellness activities

Shows, memories and emotions

Dance is not just about a weekly class. It is also built through powerful moments shared between students, teachers and families.

Each year, the students participate in an end-of-year show presented in a Parisian theater. This event allows each student to take to the stage and share the fruits of their labor with their loved ones. Costumes, staging, music, and choreography are carefully prepared to make this performance a unique moment. For the students, it is often a memorable experience: an opportunity to experience dance in a different way, to strengthen team spirit, and to discover the joy of performing before an audience.

Danse Cadix' spirit

Since its creation, the school has been built around a few simple principles:

  • to transmit dance with high standards and kindness

  • to offer courses accessible to all levels

  • to preserve a warm and friendly atmosphere

  • to create a space where dance is shared first and foremost as a pleasure

Today, the Danse Cadix team continues this adventure with the same respect for the history of the place and the same desire to introduce dance to new students.

A place dedicated to dance… and to encounters

In addition to regular classes, the hall also hosts workshops, seminars, and one-off events organized by teachers or partner organizations. It can also be rented for rehearsals, private lessons, or dance-related events, allowing other enthusiasts to enjoy this space steeped in history.
